Start with your Uconnect system
On compatible Uconnect 5 systems, over-the-air navigation map updates can depend on an eligible trial or paid Navigation Package. The built-in navigation may still work without that package, but some connected services and map updates may not.
Step-by-step guidance
- Confirm the installed infotainment system is Uconnect 5 or newer; check the vehicle manual or system information screen.
- Check connected-service and Navigation Package eligibility through the official RAM/Uconnect account or owner portal.
- Park the truck safely and follow the vehicle screen prompts for a supported map update or Wi-Fi connection.
- Allow the update to finish uninterrupted, then check map version and test navigation while parked.
How to confirm the result
After the procedure finishes, return to the navigation settings and compare the reported map version or update status with the vendor instructions. Enter a familiar address and test route calculation while the truck is parked. If the vehicle restarts the display during installation, follow the on-screen instructions before using other infotainment functions.
What to avoid
Do not assume that every RAM model year uses the same map package or USB format. Do not install an update designed for a different screen size, Uconnect generation or map region. Keep the vehicle stationary during an active system update; some driver-assistance and multimedia functions may be temporarily unavailable.
